PV Drilling held 2022 HSEQ Conference

On the afternoon of 30 March 2023, Petrovietnam Drilling and Well Service Corporation (PV Drilling) held PV Drilling's 2022 Performance Review Conference on Health - Safety - Environment - Quality in Vung Tau City (PV Drilling's 2022 HSEQ Day).

Attending and directing at PV Drilling's 2022 HSEQ Day was Ms. Do Thi Thu Phuong - Deputy Manager of Environment - Safety and Technology Division, Petrovietnam.

For PV Drilling's clients, there was the attendance of PVEP, Vietsovpetro, Cuu Long JOC, Zarubezhneft, Hoang Long - Hoan Vu JOC, Phu Quoc POC, Thang Long JOC, and PVEP Block 01 - 02, etc.

For PV Drilling, there was the attendance of Mr. Mai The Toan - Chairman of PV Drilling's Board of Directors; Mr. Do Duc Chien - Vice Chairman of PV Drilling's Board of Directors; Mr. Dinh Quang Nhut - Vice President, in charge of HSEQ activities; Mr. Ho Vu Hai - Vice President; Mr. Nguyen Cong Doan - Vice President along with many executives who conducted the HSEQ activities.

Making the opening speech, Mr. Dinh Quang Nhut informed: "After many years of operation under a context full of difficulties and challenges caused by Covid-19 and the crude oil crisis, the drilling market has shown obvious signs of recovery in 2022 when all PV Drilling's rigs successfully signed new long-term contracts or renewed current contracts such as signing a new contract to provide PV DRILLING II rig for Pertamina in Indonesia until 2024 or renewing the contract to provide PV DRILLING III rig for Repsol Malaysia until 2024, etc. The fact that the drilling market becomes busy again will make us focus more on HSEQ activities so that safety achievement continues to contribute on PV Drilling's business performance. In addition to 2022 achievements, PV Drilling's 2022 HSEQ Dayis the occasion for us to review, sharing experiences as well as learning new lessons in order to enhance the effectiveness of HSEQ activities in the upcoming time.

On behalf of PV Drilling's HSEQ Division, Mr. Nguyen Huy Trong made a review report for all HSEQ activities in 2022 and action plans in 2023. The most remarkable achievement in HSEQ activities in 2022 was all domestic and international facilities including drilling rigs, floating vehicles, production workshops, bases, etc. were conducted safely without lost time incidence (Zero LTI). Besides, service quality was ensured to meet client's expectations, even the most demanding ones. Especially, 2022 was the time when the TAD-PV DRILLING V rig was back to work for the first time in Brunei to conduct drilling service for Brunei Shell Petroleum (BSP), one of the most worldwide demanding clients for HSEQ activities. The TAD rig has finished the first year of operation with efficiency over 98%. This criterion was up to 99% for the jack-up rigs owned by PV Drilling.

During the year, PV Drilling maintained annual health checks and working environment measurements to ensure occupational safety and health and staff health as well. Environmental protection is always highly appreciated in accordance with applicable laws and client requirements. In 2022, PV Drilling started a new program in line with the "Earth's greening trend", which the LED lights were used in replacement of the current fluorescent ones so that the Corporation could save more power as well as to protect the environment more. This program has shown remarkable efforts from PV Drilling's management and staff considering the rig operation and management facing various challenges while the Corporation had the two jack-up rigs serving for the first time in Brunei and Indonesia.

Besides the overview report, PV Drilling's 2022 HSEQ Day also listened to other reports from our subsidiaries such as PVD Drilling Division with reports on "PV DRILLING V with Finger Incident" and "Reducing Greenhouse Gas Emission - New technology trends"; PVD Well Services with a report on "Experience in maintaining Quality management system in accordance with API Q2 and its application on HSEQ work"; PVD Baker Hughes Joint venture with a report on "Learning team - Proactively detect and handle possible system errors".

All reports received much-heated discussion as well as experience sharing from leaders of the Environment - Safety and Technology Division, Petrovietnam, leaders of PV Drilling its subsidiaries, its clients, and partners in HSEQ activities in 2022 as well as drew many lessons for 2023.

At the conference, Ms. Do Thi Thu Phuong highly appreciated the hard efforts of PV Drilling's management and staff, especially those who worked in HSEQ section in 2022. Although the workload increased, all the owned and chartered rigs operated safely with Zero LTI achievements. In 2023, PV Drilling's rig fleet plans to work overseas most of the time, which will put more pressure on HSEQ staff to maintain safety records without lost time incidents or environmental incidents; and continue to meet all demanding expectations from clients.

Making a directing speech at the conference, Mr. Mai The Toan - Chairman of PV Drilling's Board of Directors continued to affirm the importance of HSEQ activities which was implemented from the first days of PV Drilling's establishment and still plays an important role in the Corporation's development road. During over 21 years of establishment and development, HSEQ was strongly committed by PV Drilling's top management through various policies of encouragement, supervision and monitoring, etc. so that this filed can be worked out with the highest efficiency.

HSEQ Day is an annually important event of the Corporation for reviewing as well as sharing experiences on rig operations and management. Through this conference, PV Drilling will receive more comments from clients, and partners, which helps to upgrade the HSEQ system so that we can meet the demanding requirements of clients. This is the solid foundation for PV Drilling to grow sustainably". The Chairman said.

In 2022, PV Drilling not only met the most demanding requirements of BSP but also operated the TAD - PV DRILLING V rig highly efficiently with two wells being completed ahead of the schedule. As a result, the rig and its drilling crew was highly appreciated and awarded by BSP. During the year, PV Drilling continued to achieve Zero LTI for all the owned rigs, organized 16,267 HSEQ training sections, achieving 115.935 safety cards; thereby, affirming the effectiveness and efficiency of PV Drilling's HSEQ system.

In 2023, PV Drilling plans to send the owned rigs operating at overseas markets while continuing to find new clients. Rig moving will take place more often, potential risks may occur respectively. Therefore, PV Drilling needs to focus more on HSEQ activities in 2023 with detailed targets, actual plans to maintain HSEQ achievements through various activities such as supervision, training and conduction… to continue achieving Zero LTI without environmental incident at all business activities; maintaining the effectiveness and efficiency of the HSEQ system; training and enhancing awareness on HSEQ for all PV Drilling's staff, developing it to safety culture; enhancing supervision at all drilling rigs, production workshops, etc so that HSEQ activities will continue to contribute to the overall success of the Corporation.
