AURORA, Ill. (AP) _ Old Second Bancorp Inc. (OSBC) on Wednesday reported fourth-quarter profit of $9.5 million.

The bank, based in Aurora, Illinois, said it had earnings of 31 cents per share.

The results beat Wall Street expectations. The average estimate of four analysts surveyed by Zacks Investment Research was for earnings of 30 cents per share.

The financial holding company posted revenue of $36.9 million in the period. Its revenue net of interest expense was $32.4 million, which fell short of Street forecasts. Three analysts surveyed by Zacks expected $33 million.

For the year, the company reported profit of $39.5 million, or $1.30 per share. Revenue was reported as $132.6 million.

Old Second Bancorp shares have decreased 2% since the beginning of the year. In the final minutes of trading on Wednesday, shares hit $13.19, a decline of slightly more than 4% in the last 12 months.
