Novartis is to expand its production of broad-spectrum antibiotic at the Prevalje Penicillin Site in northern Slovenia. The investment will see the existing capacity increase significantly. The expansion of Lek operations at Prevalje could potentially create more than a hundred jobs, with the investment enabling the expansion of the facility on the land in the immediate vicinity that was bought from Koratur company last year. If everything goes according to plan, the first production lines will begin operation in 2019, with new lines gradually phased in through to 2023. Lek is a part of Sandoz, the generic division of Novartis, and is responsible for the marketing and sales of Sandoz products in the Slovenian market.
