NextEra Energy Inc. shares fell 7% to $76.15 Tuesday after the energy company recorded a profit in the fourth quarter but missed analysts' top-line expectations.
Operating revenue was $5.05 billion, compared with $4.37 billion in the same period a year earlier and the consensus analyst forecast for $6.25 billion. The Juno Beach, Fla.-based company posted a net profit attributable to the company of $1.2 billion, compared with a loss of $5 million in the year-earlier period.
Shares of NextEra have fallen 13% over the last 12 months.
