NCC Group's Centre for Evolved Next-Generation Threat Assurance (CENTA) has appointed Chris Proctor, former project lead on Cyber Programmes for Telecoms, Security and Resilience within the Department of Culture, Media, and Sport (DCMS).

Chris has joined CENTA as executive principal and will be working alongside former Bank of England cyber specialists - Phillip Larbey, Anthony Long and Fiona Paterson - to advise governments, regulators and businesses on cyber resilience and best-practice, with a focus on the public sector and telecoms.

With 14 years' experience in telecoms, Chris has an extensive knowledge of the sector, operational technologies and IT security requirements.

Most recently, Chris has led the Cyber Programme for the Telecoms, Security and Resilience team within DCMS which is adapting the Bank of England's CBEST framework for the telecoms sector, gaining buy-in for the programme from stakeholders such as OFCOM, the National Cyber Security Centre (NCSC) and key service providers from industry. In addition, he has been responsible for DCMS's cyber best practice and guidance activity, while managing risks associated with emerging services such as 5G connectivity.

As part of its international strategy to create a unified framework for global cyber resilience, NCC Group's CENTA aims to assist all relevant organisations by preparing, implementing and supporting them in achieving cyber resilience and evolved security testing regulatory regimes.

CENTA also offers staff training, testing project management, analysis of root-causes, assistance with correction and remediation of issues, alongside providing ongoing reviews to ensure the quality of frameworks followed.

Chris commented on his appointment: 'CENTA exists to bring together governments, regulators and businesses across the world, and create a unified approach to cyber resilience. As a global advisory service, CENTA is working towards creating one framework that these organisations can work from to create a resilient and unbeaten force against the cyber threats that face all sectors.

'Working closely with my colleagues, Phillip, Anthony and Fiona alongside support from the wider NCC Group, we will continue to communicate to all necessary global forums the importance of cyber resilience, with my focus being on telecoms and public sector.'

Ben Jepson, director for risk management and governance at NCC Group said: 'To achieve resilience, we need to work closely with all key governments and regulators. They have the authority and power to change attitudes around this subject.

'Chris' experience in the telecoms sector will strengthen CENTA's position as the leading advisory for cyber resilience, and he will prove to be a vital player in our plan to raise standards across the board.'
