PRESS RELEASE
New Royal Delft Experience starts upDelft Blue comes to life in Royal Delft Experience
Delft, 19 April 2012 - Royal Delft has opened the doors to the new Royal Delft Experience. Visitors can make a modern journey through the world of Delft Blue. Henk Schouten, CEO Royal Delft: "Our new Experience is a special encounter for young and old. Audio-visual presentations with special effects, special themed rooms and demonstrations by our Master painters mean that a visit to Royal Delft is interesting to a broad public. The official opening of the Royal Delft Experience is on 31 May 2012."
In the Royal Delft Experience visitors travel from the past
of the age-old earthenware to the present. The tour starts
with a multimedia presentation that brings to live the
history and production of the Delft Blue pottery. The tour
also incorporates special themed rooms, including the
authentic dining room of
painter Johannes Vermeer, a 17th-century
contemporary of Delft Blue, and the Royal treasury. This
room holds the complete collection of Delft Blue produced for
the Dutch Royal family through the centuries. A visit to the
historical courtyard, the workshop or a demonstration by
Master painters also provide a unique experience.
Royal Delft is ready for the future. Henk Schouten: "We
consider it very important that the tradition of handmade
Delft Blue is preserved. Every year we receive around 120,000
visitors from the Netherlands and abroad. The dynamic
presentation in our Experience makes a visit more attractive
and accessible to a broader public."
The new Royal Delft Experience at Rotterdamseweg 196 in Delft
is open Monday through Sunday
from 09.00 a.m. to 05.00 p.m. (closed on Thursday, 31 May
