Liverpool City Council selected Morgan Sindall Group's Construction & Infrastructure division to deliver two projects as parts of the local authority’s Paddington Village scheme. The scheme is part of a planned £1 billion extension to the city’s Knowledge Quarter. To be established on a 30-acre site to the east of the city centre, the Paddington Village will be divided into three plots, namely Paddington North, Paddington Central and Paddington South. Morgan Sindall has been appointed to work on two separate projects on the central plot. Procured through the North West Construction Hub framework, the project will be based on LCC’s vision of creating a hub for life-science, healthcare and technology industries. The first phase of project will involve infrastructure installation, and the creation of public spaces across the Brownfield site, and development plots to make them market-ready. The first phase of work is slated to start 2017 and will be worth an estimated £12 million. During the second phase, Morgan Sindall will design and build a new £35 million Northern Centre of Excellence for the Royal College of Physicians. RCP is estimated to occupy almost half of 140,000ft2, with the remaining space to be occupied by other associated institutions and life science businesses. The company has commenced construction and is expected to handover in 2019.
