ZURICH, Jan 11 (Reuters) - Swiss Health Minister Alain Berset said on Monday he expects Switzerland's drugs regulator swissmedic to approve Moderna Inc's COVID-19 vaccine "very soon", suggesting a wait of just days, not weeks.

"The signals are good, I have the impression that it could come very soon," Berset said, while visiting Visp, Switzerland, the location of Swiss contract drug manager Lonza that is producing active ingredients for Moderna's vaccine. Three weeks wait would not qualify as "very soon", Berset added.

Switzerland has said approval of Moderna's vaccine, in addition to a COVID-19 shot from Pfizer and BioNTech , could bring the number of doses delivered to Switzerland to 1.5 million by February. Switzerland has said all residents who want to be vaccinated against COVID-19 should be able to get a shot by summer. (Reporting by John Miller; Editing by Emma Farge)
