MGM Resorts International : Presents the 30th Annual Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Parade in Las Vegas

Thousands Expected to Celebrate at One of the Nation's Largest Annual Parades Honoring Dr. King

th Annual Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Parade to be held on Monday, Jan. 16 at 10 a.m. in downtown Las Vegas.

Hailed as one of the nation's most popular annual parades celebrating the ideals and life of Dr. King, thousands are expected to line the Fourth Street parade route to celebrate Dr. King's legacy of promoting equal and human rights.

This year's parade theme is "Living the Dream:  Rebuilding A 30-Year Pilgrimage - Our Nation Reaches the Mountaintop!" Grand Marshals for the event will include: Phyllis A. James, MGM Resorts Executive Vice President and Chief Diversity Officer; Patricia Cunningham, KCEP-FM 88.1 News Director and Talk Show Host; Gene Collins, a former state assembly member and Director of the National Action Network Las Vegas chapter; and Steve Schorr, Cox Communications Las Vegas Vice President of Public and Government Affairs.

This is the second consecutive year MGM Resorts is the presenting sponsor of the event. The Company has supported the Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Parade since 2003.

More than 100 employee volunteers from MGM Resorts are expected to turn out in full force to march in the parade with an MGM Resorts float created by the Company's Events department.

Wendell Williams, chair of the nonprofit Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Committee, expects this year's event to be the largest one ever, with more than 145 entries including floats, marching bands, dancers, and motorcades featuring both cars and motorcycles. Public officials and representatives of area nonprofit organizations are also expected to participate in the event.

"This parade is an excellent way for the community to unite together as one to honor the extraordinary life of Dr. King and celebrate the freedoms won because of his fight for equal rights," said Williams.
