PITTSBURGH (AP) _ Matthews International Corp. (MATW) on Thursday reported a loss of $1.8 million in its fiscal first quarter.

On a per-share basis, the Pittsburgh-based company said it had a loss of 6 cents. Earnings, adjusted for non-recurring costs and amortization costs, were 68 cents per share.

The casket and memorial manufacturer posted revenue of $386.7 million in the period.

Matthews International shares have increased nearly 8% since the beginning of the year. In the final minutes of trading on Thursday, shares hit $31.67, a decline of 18% in the last 12 months.
