Mumbai, January 16, 2014: The 11th Standard Chartered Mumbai Marathon will see a 500+ strong contingent of Mahindra employees run for the cause of girl child education. Funds that will help educate over 2000 girl children will be raised by the Mahindra runners, along with other corporate and individuals for Project Nanhi Kali which focuses on girl child education. Initiated in 1996, Project Nanhi Kali is jointly managed by the K. C. Mahindra Education Trust (KCMET) and Naandi Foundation.

Of the 538 Mahindra employees who will participate in this year's marathon, 402 are to run in the Dream Run, 126 to run the half marathon and 10 to run the full marathon. In addition to this, two runners from the Dream Team category - a special category of individuals committed to run for a cause and thereby raise a substantial donation - will also contribute to Project Nanhi Kali. These are Dream Wizard and also the youngest runner, 16 year old Devansh Jalota, whose contribution will help educate 253 girl children and Dream Maker, Dr. Ram Ramdas whose contribution will see 62 girls receive an education.

Project Nanhi Kali reaches out to over 84,000 girls from underprivileged communities in 9 states across India. Established in 1996, it is jointly managed by the K C Mahindra Education Trust and the Naandi Foundation and ensures access to, and completion of quality education by providing academic support.
