PROVIDENCE, R.I., June 24 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- GTECH Corporation, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Lottomatica S.p.A. (Pink Sheets: LTTOY), announced that Donald R. Sweitzer has accepted the position of Chairman of GTECH Corporation effective January 1, 2009.

Sweitzer will continue to closely advise Mr. Pellicioli and GTECH President & CEO Jaymin B. Patel on government relations and general business affairs. Additionally, in the role of Chairman of GTECH, Sweitzer will have a number of important responsibilities including, among other things, acting as an Ambassador for the Company when interacting with global customers, current and future potential business partners, and government officials.

Sweitzer began his career with GTECH in 1998 as Senior Vice President of Government Relations and currently holds the position of Senior Vice President of Global Business Development and Public Affairs. In this role, Sweitzer leads the Company's efforts in identifying and developing new business opportunities in targeted markets and supporting the expansion of GTECH's products and services in existing jurisdictions, as well as continually enhancing the Company's communications and services to its worldwide government and commercial clients. Sweitzer will continue serving in this capacity until the end of December 2008.

Prior to joining GTECH, Sweitzer was President of the Dorset Resource and Strategy Group, a public affairs consulting firm. A recognized authority on national politics and public affairs, Sweitzer has advised numerous national, statewide, and congressional candidates throughout his career in government affairs and has worked at every level of government. Sweitzer lives with his wife Sheri in Warwick, Rhode Island, and has four grown children, William, Matthew, Jennifer, and Elizabeth, and also three grandchildren.
