Korea Petrochemical Ind. Co., Ltd. is expected to complete its capacity expansion plans for its 470,000 tonne/year naphtha cracker in Onsan by mid-2017. The unit will shut during next April-May for around 45-50 days for the debottlenecking project that will increase its ethylene capacity by 330,000 tonnes/year to 800,000 tonnes/year.

The company's total propylene capacity will increase from around 350,000 tonnes/year to approximately 510,000-520,000 tonnes/year, including around 110,000 tonnes/year of existing supply from an olefins conversion unit located in the same complex.
