Kintetsu World Express, Inc. (Tokyo, Japan) is pleased to announce that it has signed an additional agreement with Cathay Pacific Airways (Hong Kong) for the use of Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF).

Since 2021, KWE has been in discussions and exchanges of opinions with Cathay Pacific regarding the use of SAF. In April last year, we participated in their first SAF pilot programme for corporate customers in Asia as one of the launch customers, which was highly acclaimed as an advanced initiative together with other participating companies.

Major airlines have set a goal of replacing 10% of their aviation fuel consumption with SAF by 2030, but the amount of SAF supplied is still less than 1% of the total aviation fuel supply and production costs are high. It is essential that all stakeholders in aviation transportation be aware of and actively participate in this effort. We will continue to take advantage of these opportunities to reduce our own Scope 3 emissions and aim to provide our customers with low-carbon transportation options on an ongoing basis.
