Japan Radio : JRC launches local corporation in Indonesia to expand its coastal / disaster prevention business.

Japan Radio Co., Ltd. (JRC), having its main office in Nakano-ku, Tokyo, Japan and led by President Kenji Ara, started the official operation of its local corporation in Indonesia 'PT. JRC SPECTRA INDONESIA' on June 2, 2017. This local corporation was established by the joint venture of JRC and PT. SPECTRA SOLUSI INDONESIA in the Special Capital Territory of Jakarta, Republic of Indonesia on January 30, 2017.

Background and Purpose of New Corporation

JRC has been developing the telecommunications infrastructure in Indonesia including the coastal radio station systems covering all the sea areas of Indonesia mainly in the Japanese ODA projects for the period of over 40 years. In recent years, the demand for the systems to support the safe navigation of ships has been increasing in the trend of activating maritime logistics in the economic development of this country. On the other hand, the economic losses due to natural disasters such as floods, volcanic eruptions, and landslides have promoted the disaster prevention awareness of the people and Indonesia is gathering the momentum of solving such problems with its own funds. JRC has desired to use and deliver the technology of coast station systems and the knowhow of disaster prevention systems cultivated in Japan for the Enhancement of Safety and Security in Indonesia. Thus, the new joint venture 'JRC SPECTRA' was established.

JRC's partner 'PT. SPECTRA SOLUSI INDONESIA is one of the affiliated companies of Warga Djaja Group which is a financial group giant, having a relationship with JRC's parent company Nisshinbo Holdings, Inc. for over 20 years and has been cooperating not only in investing in the joint venture, but also providing much knowhow for operating corporations and implementing projects in Indonesia.

Future Prospect

'JRC SPECTRA' intends to increase its local staff and promote educational programs to foster technical and marketing personnel in order to build up their capacity of designing and recommending systems to meet the local needs, aiming at realizing the Safety and Security in Indonesia.
The new company will also actively take care of the projects under the Indonesian national budgets and at the same time, make efforts to build up the local procurement capacity for Japanese ODA projects as well.
