Imelda Shine, Managing Director UK and Ireland at Intertrust Group spoke to Real Deals on the expected outcome of the long-awaited update to the Investment Limited Partnership (ILP) Bill in Ireland, having recently passed all stages of the parliamentary process.

On the new legislation, Imelda said it is likely to result in new business flows into Ireland as it makes it a more competitive jurisdiction for private investment funds.

'Ireland is already a leading jurisdiction for both domiciled and non-domiciled funds. The country administers 40 per cent of the world's alternative investment funds, for instance - but this new legislation could see that number rise significantly.'

Among other benefits, the ILP regime and the pending updates to the AIF Rulebook offer greater flexibility and cost-efficiencies, allowing improved operation of ILPs for managers and investors.
