On August 12, 2022, Ping An Insurance Group announced that it has requested the HSBC Holdings plc to spinoff to unlock the potential of the Company and increase shareholders value. In addition, the Company stated that it has also modelling a potential break-up and the board was examining alternative structures. Later, the Company added that it continues to believe that its current strategy and structure will deliver very good returns over the next few years.
