Harris Teeter, Titan Farms Donate Over 26,000 pounds of Peaches to Second Harvest Matthews, N.C. - Harris Teeter and its vendor Titan Farms, donated approximately 26,000 pounds of peaches to Second Harvest Food Bank of Metrolina today to help feed the hungry in the local community. This donation was made possible thanks to Titan Farms second annual Peaches with A Purpose program.
Titan Farms, the largest peach grower on the east coast, created Peaches with a Purpose to help feed the underserved while bringing attention to the problem of food insecurity in the United States. The program took place in August and included 144 Harris Teeter stores. For the total amount of peaches purchased during the campaign period, Harris Teeter and Titan Farms donated a percentage back to the food bank. The total donation is in excess of 58,000 pounds of peaches; the donation is being split between Second Harvest Food Bank of Northwest NC in Winston-Salem and Second Harvest Food Bank of Metrolina in Charlotte. "We are so proud to offer a program that will help our retail partners give back to their local communities," said Chalmers Carr, president of Titan Farms. "We look forward to growing and strengthening this annual campaign each year."
Harris Teeter and Titan Farms would like to offer a special thanks to Salem Produce, LLC for helping transport the donated product.
