BenchMark Energy Corp. announced it will include propylene glycol in its available product line. Propylene Glycol is used as a chemical feedstock for the production of unsaturated polyester resins as well as to produce polyurethanes.

It is considered to be safe for use in and around food by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration and is used as a humectant, a solvent and preservative in food and for tobacco products. Propylene Glycol is used as a solvent in many pharmaceuticals such as diazepam and lorazepam. Propylene Glycol is able to lower the freezing point of water and so in addition to being a main component in BenchMark's Timberline antifreeze, it is also used in applications related to de-icing, as an oil dispersant and is present in the vapor used in vaporizers.
