GPI WINS TENDER FOR PATHOLOGICAL ANATOMY SOFTWARE FOR VENETO

Goal achieved thanks to acquisition of TESI Group, fundamental factor to targeting

market segments previously inaccessible to GPI

GPI S.p.A. (GPI:IM), a leading information systems and health and social care services company listed on the EXM market, announces that it has been awarded the tender to implement the digital Pathological Anatomy (PA) solution for the Veneto Region Health Authority.

The contract is worth €5.9 million, has a term of four years and involves providing the PA software to all departments and services of the Veneto Region's Health Authority. The PA software will be used in daily clinical and scientific activities and will handle over 2.5 million histological slides a year.

Under the internal agreements within the consortium through which Gpi is participating in the Consip Framework Agreement, almost the entire amount will be attributed to Gpi.

Leveraging the cross-selling potential resulting from the recent acquisition of a majority interest in the Tesi Group, Gpi will draw on the capabilities of the information system designed and developed by Tesi, featuring state-of-the-art web technology, to manage the entire traceability process of PA laboratories, from sample acceptance to assisted reporting.

The contract also includes a system for storing virtualised histology slide images and a dedicated image viewer. The solution provided will interface with laboratory instrumentation and will be integrated with the Electronic Health Record.

A business intelligence dashboard will also be implemented to carry out productivity and diagnostic quality surveys. In terms of innovation, several artificial intelligence algorithms will be implemented to improve diagnosis through the evaluation of biopsies and predictive prognostic biomarkers.

The contract awarded by the Veneto Region, like that recently announced for the Electronic Patient Record for Lombardy, is part of the restricted tender programme under the Consip Framework Agreement on "Digital Health - Clinical and Healthcare Information Systems" (funding limit of €900 million - see Gpi press releases of 25/11/2021and of 26/04/2022) and will draw on the resources provided by the NRRP's Mission 6 Health.
