BALTIMORE - BGE has promoted Ajit Apte to vice president of technical services, responsible for developing strategy for a number of operational functions including distribution engineering, electric system reliability, project management and vegetation management. Apte is also responsible for BGE's smart grid system, including smart meters and the related upgraded system capabilities.

Apte previously served as director of customer strategy and governance where he developed and led an enhanced customer engagement strategy to support BGE's customer-centric focus, including but not limited to upgrades and improvements to BGE's website and other electronic customer communication tools. Apte joined Constellation, an Exelon company, in 2002 and has held multiple leadership positions over the past 18 years. Prior to joining the company, he was managing principal at Mastech Corporation and an IT analyst at Tata Consultancy Services.
