ERIE, Pa., July 31, 2021-Erie Insurance(ERIE) has named Fred Johnson vice president and branch manager for ERIE's Wisconsin branch.

Johnson had served as VP and branch manager in Canton, Ohio since 2018. His appointment follows the departure of Wisconsin branch manager Rita Napieralski.

He joined the Canton Branch in 2002 as a claims data entry clerk while still in high school. He worked in the claims organization for 10 years in a variety of roles until being named a district sales manager in 2012 and being promoted to VP and branch manager six years later.

Johnson is founder and sponsor of the ERIE African American Affinity Network (EAAN) and a sponsor of the CamaradERIE Employee Resource Group that supports ERIE's diversity, equity and inclusion efforts.

He is a graduate of the University of Akron and active in the community as a member of the NAACP, Young Professionals Engaged in Stark County, Be a Better Me Foundation, United Way, March of Dimes and youth athletics.

Within the insurance industry, Johnson is a member of Business Professionals of America and the National African American Insurance Association.

Johnson's appointment to Wisconsin was effective July 15.
