Enerhomashspetsstal' PAT : On EMSS the forge ingot weighing 355 tons is successfully cast

At PJSC 'Energomashspetsstal' electric-furnace melting shop 'giant ingot' weighing 355 t from medium alloy steel roll steel grade has been filled in. The ingot of such weight will be used for production of a mill roll for iron and steel works, ARCELOR-MITTAL-Galaty, Romania. The roll is designed for operation in a stand '4850' combined plate mill 'TLS-4850/4300″.

[Attachment] In the history of EMSS it is already the ninth ingot weighing 355 tons. All latest processing and production methods which are developed together with the specialists of technological department and electric-furnace melting shop have been applied to his production.

Now the ingot is delivered to the automated forging plant AKK-15000 for forging. It is planned to finish production of the backup roll by November, 2016. Net weight of the product after the end of machining process will be 160 tons, length of the roll is over 10 meters.

'As the supplier of this roll EMSS has been chosen thanks to the fact that in January, 2014 a large-capacity roll from an ingot of 290 tons has already been shipped to the specified company. Today the roll produced by EMSS is used in a stand '4300' and shows high efficiency in operation. The repeated order is a quality indicator and trust from the customer' - the chief of technological department of steel-smelting production of PJSC 'EMSS' Alexander Pryadko has noted.

Energomashspetsstal is one of the few enterprises in the world, capable to fill in and forge an ingot weighting 355 t and even this ingot for PJSC 'EMSS' is only the second for weight characteristics. The biggest ingot today is the ingot weighing 415 t - the largest ingot in the former Soviet Union.
