July, 2011 –Telkomsel, the leading mobile network operator in Indenesia, launches Tap-Izy, a contactless mobile phone payment innovation in Indonesia. Tap-Izy SIM card is an innovative product that has been equipped with Radio Frequency Identification technology (RFID) and SIM card together; the RF-SIM card products are supplied by Eastcompeace.

Currently Eastcompeace provides 3 types of mobile payment solutions: 2.4Ghz RF-SIM card, 13.56Mhz NFC-SIM card, and 13.56Mhz Foil Card. MNOs could adapt the most suitable solution according to their network and subscriber features.

13.56Mhz NFC solution is a more international technology, the antenna is usually embedded in the handset, and the merchants’ POS machines need not to be changed.

In the case of RF-SIM card, it does not require the subscribers to change handset, making it easier for MNO to promote the mobile payment business to subscribers. Plus, 2.4Ghz RF-SIM solution can work in near/mid-range/far distances, so it is suitable for multiple circumstances.
