Truck manufacturer Daimler Truck has found a new CFO: On April 1, Eva Scherer will succeed Jochen Goetz, who died suddenly last year.

Scherer was most recently Head of Investor Relations at Siemens, where she began her career as a trainee in 2003. In addition to professional expertise, the company places particular value on open-mindedness, diversity and a willingness to embrace change, explained Daimler Supervisory Board Chairman Joe Kaeser, former Siemens CEO, on Thursday. "Eva Scherer brings these qualities to the table in a convincing manner."

Before taking on responsibility for investor relations, Scherer was Head of Finance at Siemens' Rail Infrastructure and Mobility Software division for two years. The 40-year-old business economist has been a member of the "Young Global Leaders" forum, an offshoot of the World Economic Forum, since 2019. This elite group trains future managers with a focus on sustainability.

Her predecessor Goetz died in a tragic accident in August. He had died of an allergic shock from a wasp sting, as Kaeser had announced. Since then, CEO Martin Daum has been in temporary charge of the finance department. With her broad financial experience in a globally active company in a similar industry, Scherer could provide important impetus, explained Daum. Daimler Truck will benefit from this on its path to electromobility and digitalization.
