(Alliance News) - d'Amico International Shipping SA announced on Tuesday that its operating subsidiary d'Amico Tankers DAC in Ireland has exercised its purchase option on the MT High Explorer, a 50,000-ton "medium-range" deadweight tanker, built in May 2018 at Onomichi Dockyard Co, Ltd, Japan, for JPY4.1 billion, equivalent to about USD30.0 million, at the forward contract exchange rate used to cover the currency exposure) and with estimated delivery in May 2023.

To date, the DIS fleet comprises 36 double-hulled tankers - MR, Handysize and LR1, including 20 owned, eight chartered and eight bareboat chartered vessels - with an average age relative to owned and bareboat chartered vessels of 7.6 years.

d'Amico trades in the red by 3.3 percent at EUR0.40 per share.
