Civmec : successfully delivers new Fitzroy River Bridge

In June 2023, Civmec was awarded a contract on the New Fitzroy River Bridge Project by the Fitzroy Bridge Alliance (FBA).

The bridge, located in WA's Kimberley region and previously damaged by storms, is a critical piece of infrastructure in the area, that required an accelerated delivery of all scope requirements.

We are pleased to share the following testimonial from FBA:

"The Fitzroy Bridge Alliance (FBA), comprising Georgiou, BMD, BG&E, was selected by Main Roads to fast track the delivery of the 268-metre-long bridge over the Fitzroy River. The design solution involved the use of innovative weathering steel material and modularising segments in order to accelerate construction of the bridge. Due to the short fabrication time frame and in recognition that a Tier 1 fabricator could deliver this complex fabrication project, FBA engaged Civmec to deliver this part of the project.

Civmec successfully navigated the material logistic challenges posed by the short timeframe and 'just in time' design changes. Civmec successfully evolved their fabrication processes to manage 1200 tonnes of weathering grade steel, and delivered a high-quality bridge module on time. With Civmec's contribution to the project, FBA were able to expedite the delivery of this iconic project."
