Clarification of News Report

On the news article which appeared in Business Mirror Online Edition on March 15, 2022 which reads:

"Government grants tax perks to Uy's shipping firm" posted in Business Mirror (Online Edition) on March 15, 2022, which reported in part that:

"THE Cabinet-level Fiscal Incentives Review Board (FIRB) approved tax incentives for Trans-Asia Shipping Lines Inc. (Tasli), a company owned by Dennis Uy's Chelsea Logistics Corp.

In a statement last Tuesday, the Department of Finance (DOF) reported that the tax incentives approved by the FIRB chaired by Finance Secretary Carlos G. Dominguez III were for Tasli's proposed P1.5-billion Cebu-based shipping vessel, specializing in roll-on roll-off (RoRo) passenger and cargo operations.

The DOF said the incentives include four years of income tax holiday, five years of enhanced deductions and 11 years of duty exemption on importations.

Chelsea Logistics and Infrastructure Holdings Corp. states that it has not yet received the formal communication or correspondence from the Board of Investments regarding the approval of its application for incentives for the vessel Trans-Asia 21.

Other Relevant Information

Trans-Asia 21 is a newly-built steel hulled Roll-on / Roll-Off (RoRo) vessel, the acquisition of which is aligned with the domestic shipping industry modernization program of the Maritime Industry Authority.
