Castellana Properties, a listed company specialising in the retail sector, has awarded a tender for the construction of a ramp to enable people with reduced mobility, families with prams and pushchairs and cyclists to travel more easily between San Fernando railway station and Bahía Sur shopping centre. Work will begin once terms have been formally agreed between San Fernando Town Council, led by mayor Patricia Cavada, and Julio García, president of the Bahía Sur Property Owners' Association.

Castellana Properties, as the majority owner of the complex, has volunteered to fund the accessibility project in keeping with its commitment to the Cadiz region. San Fernando-based JMR Construcciones has been contracted to complete the work under the direction of architect Manuel Díaz Periñán. Construction is set to begin in June this year for completion in September.

This latest project reflects Castellana Properties' ongoing support for San Fernando and the wider Cádiz region, home to two of the company's shopping centres: Bahía Sur and Puerta Europa (Algeciras). Bahía Sur has become a San Fernando landmark, achieving close to 8 million visits in 2022. It is known for its programme of special events and activities, including Bahía Sound and the recent "Bahía Flamenca," a cultural event aimed at nurturing promising young flamenco talent.

The new ramp will facilitate travel between the railway station and Bahía Sur, offering a direct route that allows people with reduced mobility to get around more easily".
