California Water Service : Begins Infrastructure Improvement Project in San Mateo

SAN MATEO, Calif. - California Water Service (Cal Water) has begun retrofitting and painting the interior of the water storage tank on 28^th Avenue in San Mateo, a project that will improve water supply reliability for area residents. The work will control corrosion of the tank, extend the life of the infrastructure, and help maintain water quality. It will also enhance the tank structure and ensure employees have safe access when performing inspections.

'Water facility improvement projects such as this are vital to our commitment to delivering safe and reliable water service to San Mateo residents for years to come while also protecting the safety of our employees,' said District Manager Ross Moilan. 'By performing maintenance and upgrades including retrofits and interior paint we are able to prolong the tank's useful life and delay the need for a costly tank replacement.'

The work will be performed Monday through Friday between 8 a.m. and 5:30 p.m. Every effort will be made to minimize noise from the site during the project, which is expected to be completed in seven to nine weeks.

Cal Water serves approximately 55,700 service connections in San Carlos, San Mateo, and South San Francisco and about 2 million people through 484,900 service connections in California.
