MUNICH (dpa-AFX) - BMW wants to increase its sales figures again this year. In 2022, the carmaker had to accept a decline of 4.8 percent with just under 2.4 million vehicles delivered, in contrast, as it announced on Tuesday. In the final quarter, however, the figures showed a clear upward trend: 651,798 vehicles delivered by the Group brands meant an increase of 10.6 percent. The Group did not specify a specific target for this year. However, Board Member for Sales Pieter Nota announced that the "course of profitable growth" would be continued.

BMW wants to make particularly strong gains in all-electric cars. Here, the share of total sales is to rise to 15 percent in 2023. Last year, it stood at 9 percent with 215,755 vehicles. This was more than double the figure for 2021. "We continue to see high order intake for our fully electric models in particular," Nota emphasized.

In the major markets, full-year sales figures developed similarly. The Group experienced the sharpest decline of 7.5 percent in Europe. Sales in China fell by 6.4 percent, and in the Americas by 2.3 percent. There were also exceptions: BMW owed the fact that sales in Asia fell much more slowly overall than in China, its largest submarket, in part to strong sales figures from South Korea.

BMW had already given initial figures last week, including the total volume at group level and of 2.1 million vehicles for the core BMW brand./ruc/DP/men
