Beazley appoints Denis Bensoussan to lead satellite insurance business
London, 09 January 2014

Specialist insurer Beazley has appointed Denis Bensoussan to establish a satellite insurance capability within the company, following Beazley's successful move into aviation insurance in 2012.

Mr Bensoussan will be joining Beazley in March from Hiscox, where, as senior underwriter for space risks, he managed the global satellite risks account.

Prior to joining Hiscox in 2006, Mr Bensoussan worked in the aerospace department of Marsh Aviation and in the aerospace practice for the international law firm Simmons & Simmons as well as related positions at the European Space Agency, the United Nations and the European Commission. With more than 15 years' experience of the aerospace industry, Mr Bensoussan possesses deep knowledge of the risk exposures satellite and launch vehicle operators and manufacturers confront.

Mr Bensoussan will be based in Beazley's London office, working within the marine division headed by Clive Washbourn. Welcoming Mr Bensoussan to Beazley, Mr Washbourn said:

"I'm delighted that Denis will be joining Beazley to develop our capabilities in the satellite insurance market.  Satellite risks are complex and often challenging to underwrite - something that plays to our strengths at Beazley. Denis will fit right in."

Mr Bensoussan holds a post-graduate degree in Air & Space Law along with a degree and post-graduate degree in Law and International Law. He is a member of the Insurance Institute of London Aviation Committee, the Union of International Aerospace Insurers and the Union des Jeunes Assureurs et Réassureurs Francais.
