Barclays has strengthened its Charities team with the appointment of Eleanor Cox as a new Associate Director.

Eleanor joins from RBS, and will have responsibility for a number of charity clients. Eleanor previously supported a portfolio of technology, media and telecoms clients at RBS with turnovers of up to £1bn. She will now be working alongside David McHattie, Head of Charities, Corporate Banking, as Barclays continues to grow its presence in the sector. Barclays is the leading banker to larger charities, with relationships with 70% of the top 100 charitable organisations in the UK.

David McHattie, Head of Charities, Corporate Banking, Barclays, commented: "The charity sector is facing a number of challenges in the current environment, from declining revenue streams to changing regulation placing additional pressure on charities' services. At Barclays we strive to support our clients in addressing these issues and Eleanor's client management experience as well as digital expertise will help us support an increased number of charities."

Commenting on her appointment, Eleanor said: "Charities are undergoing significant changes, not least in keeping pace with digital and technological developments. As the sector looks for ways to become more efficient, I hope my understanding of both the opportunities and challenges technology can present will offer an additional area of support to both our current and prospective clients."
