With the help of IBM and ANTs software inc. (OTCBB:ANTS), a leader in database consolidation solutions, a Fortune 500 provider of merchant processing services is accelerating the migration of highly complex and critical risk management and secure transaction applications from Sybase ASE 12.5 to IBM DB2. With international demands on its growing enterprise the company will dramatically reduce its investments in DBMS maintenance, technology upgrades and specialized talent with IBM® DB2® SQL Skin for applications compatible with Sybase ASE (IBM DB2 SQL Skin), an innovative DB2 migration technology built on ANTs Compatibility Server (ACS).

After beta tests and technology evaluation in 2010, the Fortune 500 Company has entered an agreement to license IBM DB2 SQL Skin in 2011 and migrate five different, mission critical financial applications from Sybase ASE onto IBM DB2.

?Savvy businesses committed to reducing enterprise complexity and eliminating database overlap are questioning Sybase's viability as a long-term enterprise platform. This is the fourth new ANTs' customer, in as many months, to begin their DBMS consolidation initiative,? said Joseph Kozak, chairman and CEO, ANTs software, inc. ?For international financial services firms, IBM DB2 SQL Skin can dramatically lower database-related operational costs, optimize security and availability and improve the overall performance of an enterprise.?

Special Demands of extremely complex and secure financial environments

It is a rare enterprise that has just a single client application and, this customer, a leading payments processing and financial technology provider, services millions of consumers worldwide, thousands of card issuers and over 6 million merchant locations.

With its extremely complex environment, the enterprise will now maintain a single code base with IBM DB2 SQL Skin, migrate applications written in different versions of C++ from a Sybase DBMS to a DB2-based environment and cut the amount of time spent on manual DBMS migration.

The financial services firm has completed proof-of-concept with five different applications and will begin deployment of IBM DB2 SQL Skin for applications compatible with Sybase ASE in early 2011 with minimal operational impact, significant cost reductions and measurable performance improvements. The organization is accelerating migration initiatives, reducing legacy maintenance costs and making it possible for end users to utilize business applications without disruption.

The actual name of the customer is not provided for competitive reasons.
