Alstom announces that it has signed a contract with the Austrian Federal Railways (ÖBB) to equip up to 449 trains with a modern on-board signalling system, worth over €100 million.

The project, scheduled to run until 2030, is designed to improve ÖBB's ability to provide reliable cross-border passenger and freight transport across Europe.

The upgrade to ETCS Baseline 3.6 will improve train control and safety, enabling shorter intervals between trains and automatic braking capabilities.

The work will be carried out by Alstom at the ÖBB workshops in Linz and Vienna.
