Agilent Technologies Inc. (NYSE: A) today announced the availability of the Agilent Large Valve Oven for the 7890B gas chromatograph (GC) system. This versatile, high-capacity external oven can be configured to support complex, multi-valve ASTM International and EN (European Standard) GC applications. Precisely engineered for thermal isolation from the GC oven, the oven provides a homogeneous isothermal environment for up to six positions for columns and valves. Its vertical design orientation allows for convenient maintenance.

"With increased exploration and production of fuel sources, there is a growing need for analytical equipment that uses ASTM and EN analytical methods to identify contaminants affecting the quality and profitability of these fuel streams," said Wayne Collins, Agilent's global Energy and Chemical market manager.

"The Agilent Large Valve Oven is a premium GC external valve oven option with capacity and thermal uniformity that will support multiple complex analyses on a single GC platform," he added.

When maintenance is required, the oven's vertical orientation allows for complete access to valves and connections without the removal of actuators, which results in significantly less downtime. Minimal reconnections in the new design also reduce troubleshooting required after maintenance.

"Agilent is committed to helping petrochemical customers address evolving needs and industry trends," said Jason Ashe, GC product manager. "The Agilent Large Valve Oven 7890B GC system enables them to ensure the purity of fuels, combine methods to get more complete information from a single system, and quickly and easily maintain the system during normal maintenance schedules."

The Agilent Large Valve Oven supports standard Agilent multi-valve analyzers such as refinery gas analyzers and natural gas analyzers with factory-tested methods and guaranteed chromatographic performance. The flexibility and configurability of the new external valve oven enable multiple ASTM and EN methods to be implemented on a single GC system, providing a smaller laboratory footprint and more information from a single system.
