Affluent Medical today announced the successful first minimally invasive transcatheter implantation of its biomimetic Epygon mitral heart valve in a patient in Italy, as part of the Minerva pilot clinical study.

This first implantation was successfully performed by Prof. Stefano Salizzoni, co-investigator of the study, and his team at the Molinette Hospital of Health and Science in Turin, Italy.

The patient's health progressed very rapidly. She is now in post-surgical cardiac rehabilitation care. The discharge visit showed a very good ultrasound result concerning the mitral valve. Follow-up is scheduled at one month post-operatively.

' We need to remain cautious about these preliminary results before we can conclude on the efficacy and absence of complications in the medium and long term. We are confident about the future of the study," comments Sébastien Ladet, CEO of Affluent Medical.
