ADB ANNOUNCES CVS FOR THE HEALTHCARE INDUSTRY, DELIVERING INDUSTRY-FIRST SERVICES TO HOSPITALS, DOCTORS' OFFICES

29th April 2014 - LOS ANGELES (THE CABLE SHOW) - ADB, a leading supplier of advanced solutions for the connected home, today announced its Commercial Video Solution (CVS) for the Healthcare Industry, delivering cost-effective, easy-to-scale, fully-managed HDTV solutions to healthcare facilities.

With the ADB CVS products, healthcare facilities can use in-room TV systems to make sure patients view mandatory videos that provide them with vital after care information prior to their leaving the hospital. It also integrates with bedside monitoring devices that not only control the TV but also have direct linkage to the nurse's station. For the patient, the platform offers a full HD entertainment channel line-up, and a choice of interactive guides with VOD options. The guide has an adjustable font size option, enabling patients to more easily see it from across the room.

The CVS solution provides cost-savings for hospitals since it does not require costly head-end infrastructure onsite at healthcare facilities, and is also offered as an ADB hosted service via the cloud, providing immediate efficiencies. The healthcare offering builds upon ADB's CVS solution for the Hospitality markets which has been deployed nationwide in both small to large marquis hotel chains.

Time Warner Cable Business Class uses elements of the platform for the company's HD Video for Healthcare solution.

"Our HD Video for Healthcare solution, which utilizes ADB's CVS-enabled set-back box, delivers a high quality, feature-rich viewing experience, similar to what's found at home, that helps to create a more comfortable, familiar setting for patients," said James T. C. Moore, director, video product management, Time Warner Cable Business Services. "By working with ADB to provide a better in-room television experience, we are able to assist administrators in improving patient satisfaction and help reduce costs."

ADB's CVS solution offers operators and businesses:

  • An easy-to-implement QAM and IP video service platform that integrates seamlessly into existing networks
  • ADB's non-intrusive Phantom set-back box which is a simple, easy-to-install cable box that sits behind the TV itself
  • Simple upgrade paths through live software upgrades
  • A remote room monitoring tool for the front desk computers which will identify any issues - without requiring call the operators technical services
  • ADB's DVR-Lite™, a DVR system that enables time-shift playback using off-the-shelf SDHC memory cards

"Around the world, ADB has a reputation of supporting operators' goals to enhance the overall consumer TV viewing experience. With CVS, these operators can now approach businesses such as healthcare facilities with a cost-effective, proven solution that benefits both staff and patients," said Chris Dinallo, SVP Global Business DevelopmentADB. "Our work with customers has successfully demonstrated that required tasks such as bedside monitoring integration and post-op exit information can be delivered seamlessly and cost effectively. We look forward to expanding and enhancing the customer viewing experience at other facilities around the country."
