3M said Ashish Khandpur, president of the conglomerate's transportation and electronics business group, is leaving on Dec. 1 to join another company as president and chief executive.

The St. Paul, Minn., company said Thursday that it has launched an internal and external search for Khandpur's successor, adding that division presidents within the group will report directly to 3M Chairman and CEO Mike Roman in the interim.

The transportation and electronics business accounted for around $1.88 billion of 3M's third-quarter sales of $8.02 billion.

3M also said Jeff Lavers, president of its healthcare business, is leaving on Dec. 1 in conjunction with the planned spinoff of the group. 3M said group CEO Bryan Hanson will continue to lead the business.
