Shares of energy companies were flat as commodity prices declined due to the Organization of the Petroleum Exporting Countries demand forecast and rate fears.

U.S.-traded oil futures slipped after OPEC kept its demand forecast unchanged. Natural gas futures slipped as traders bet mild weather would weigh on demand.

Stronger-than-anticipated wholesale inflation data spurred fears that the Federal Reserve may delay rate cuts.
