The Canadian dollar weakened against the greenback on Wednesday, and the yield on benchmark government debt slipped. The loonie was trading 0.2% lower at C$1.3583 to the greenback, or 73.62 U.S. cents, after trading in a range of 1.3562 to 1.3604. Canadian government 10-year bond yields fell 2.9 basis points to 3.495%. The yield on similar U.S. government benchmark debt fell to 4.2847%. U.S. April crude futures fell $1.42 to $82.05 a barrel on Wednesday.
