WV LEADERS, WORKERS OPPOSE SO-CALLED 'RIGHT TO WORK'

Hundreds of WV workers and leaders spoke out against 'right-to-work' legislation this morning

(Charleston, WV)- It was a packed House today as hundreds of West Virginia leaders, workers, and their families came to the Capitol to speak out against the so called 'right-to-work' legislation that will soon be up for vote in the House of Delegates after the Republican majority pushed it through the Senate.

Senate Democrats all voted against the legislation and expressed their strong opposition of the Republican driven legislation that will lower the wages, workplace safety, and benefits of West Virginia workers.

Thousands of West Virginia workers have made the trip to Charleston to stand up for their jobs against the Republican war on wages only to be ignored by the Republican majority.

Today Kenny Perdue, West Virginia AFL-CIO President was the first to speak at the hearing.

'Enough is enough with the attack on West Virginia workers,' said Perdue. 'They don't like unions because unions keep them honest.'

Perdue went on to declare, what we all know and agree, that 'right-to-work' weakens unions and that is why 'BIC and state Chamber' are being so forceful with the legislation.

West Virginia leaders in education, business, labor, community and many more were on hand fighting for their workers.

Democrats, West Virginia leaders, workers and their families will continue to fight the Republican attack on West Virginia workers as 'right-to-work' legislation makes its way through the House of Delegates.
