GOP MAKES RIGHT TO WORK TOP PRIORITY

WV workers are fighting back

Thousands of West Virginia workers and their families gathered last night before Governor Tomblin's State of the State address to let the Republican majority know that 'right to work' legislation is wrong. Republican Senate President Bill Cole and his colleagues introduced their agenda on the first day of the 2016 legislative session with 'right to work' legislation (Senate Bill 1) at the top of the page.

This morning 'right to work' legislation is the first item on the agenda for the Senate Judiciary Committee.

The Republican majority falsely advertises so-called 'right to work' as a way to create jobs in West Virginia and the fact of the matter is, that's a lie and West Virginia workers are taking a stand.

'Last night hardworking West Virginia families fought back,' said Belinda Biafore, WVDP Chair. 'It's time that everyone knows what 'right to work' legislation would really do to our workers and that's lower wages, raise unemployment rates, weaken workplace safety and put jobs and benefits at risk.'

Right to work legislation is supported by Bill Cole and his Republican majority to further their political agenda and put money in the pockets of their out-of- state big business friends.
