100 years celebration for Nkgono Khoarai

The office on the Status of Older Persons together with Khoarai's family will be hosting a birthday celebration for Nkgono Khoarai who is turning 100 years. The family wrote a letter to the Premier to request for recognition and acknowledgement of this milestone.

We continue to celebrate centenarian's celebrations as part of our democratic dispensation and affirming our commitment to the implementation of the Older Persons Act no 13 of 2006 and the Declaration on the rights of Older Persons.
Reaching 100 years and beyond marks a historic achievement which should be celebrated and acknowledged without doubt, these are some of the few older persons who have defied all odds and achieved beyond the age of 100 years. We continue to celebrate and acknowledge their contribution in building a caring society for all; they are the pillars of freedom.
