The Challenged Athletes Foundation® (CAF) is offering 100 athletes the opportunity to support challenged U.S. military service members and first responders by raising a minimum of $2,000 each to race the Accenture IRONMAN® 70.3® California triathlon. The race, which will take place March 28, 2015, in Oceanside, California, is sold-out except for this unique fundraising opportunity.

Interested individuals can register as members of Team Operation Rebound, a CAF program for U.S. military personnel, veterans and first responders with permanent physical challenges that provides access to funding for equipment and training, competition expenses, Military Medical Center Physical Training (MMCPT) and sports clinics. The program is supported, in part, by the fundraising efforts of the Accenture IRONMAN 70.3 California CAF participants.

All athletes will swim 1.2-miles in Oceanside Harbor, cycle a 56-mile bike route through San Clemente State Park and Marine Corps Base at Camp Pendleton and run 13.1 miles through Oceanside. “Fundraising athletes” will receive an early swim wave, designated transition racking, access to CAF hospitality tent, post-race massage, custom race tri kit, and attendance at an inspirational pre-race interaction with Operation Rebound athletes. Athletes already registered for Accenture IRONMAN 70.3 California may also join Team Operation Rebound by committing to a $1,000 fundraising minimum.

“We're joining with Accenture and IRONMAN in paying tribute to injured troops for their service to our country,” said Virginia Tinley, Executive Director of the Challenged Athletes Foundation. "At CAF, we provide athletic opportunities to physically challenged people and, in doing so, seek to educate and inspire the larger community. CAF is honored to be the Official Charity of IRONMAN 70.3 California."

Team Operation Rebound participants will experience the race with first-class support. To learn more or register for Team Operation Rebound, please visit: http://www.challengedathletes.org/ORIMCA
