Motus, the premier vehicle management and reimbursement platform, today announced the addition of Danielle Lackey as General Counsel. In addition to being responsible for all company legal affairs, Danielle will serve as executive sponsor of initiatives that bolster IRS and legal compliance for Motus clients.

Danielle joins the Motus team in response to a growing market trend of employers selecting Motus for technology-driven compliance and risk mitigation. Now more than ever, employers are under pressure to ensure that their vehicle programs comply with federal and state labor standards and that employees are fairly and accurately reimbursed.

“At a time when the mobile workforce is growing exponentially and reimbursement-related lawsuits are on the rise, providing our clients with dedicated resources to help successfully navigate federal and state labor standards, such as California Labor Code section 2802, is absolutely critical,” said Craig Powell, President and CEO of Motus.

Prior to joining Motus, Danielle co-founded and served as CEO of Cadence Counsel, a legal services company that helps law firms and companies thrive in an environment where work as we know it is rapidly changing. Under her leadership, Cadence was featured in Bloomberg Law, the Atlantic, and the Huffington Post. Before founding Cadence Counsel, Danielle practiced as a litigator at Latham & Watkins, representing major corporations and senior executives in complex civil and criminal matters. She earned her J.D. with Distinction from Stanford Law School and is a graduate of Brown University (Phi Beta Kappa, Magna Cum Laude). Prior to law school, Danielle was a member of Los Angeles Mayor James K. Hahn’s staff, responsible for developing policies and aligning incentives amongst the city’s stakeholders.

“I have known Danielle and have observed the progression of her career for many years now. We’re thrilled to have such a passionate, capable and smart person join the Motus Leadership Team,” said Powell. “We are looking forward to supporting her efforts to educate the market about labor and IRS trends that impact employers’ mileage programs.”
