In Advance of Next Week's Meeting, Minister of Finance Dr. Yuval Steinitz Congratulates his American Counterpart United States Secretary of the Treasury Geithner on the Approval of the Fiscal Cliff Avoidance Plan

Minister of Finance Dr. Yuval Steinitz congratulated his American counterpart, United States Secretary of the Treasury Timothy Geithner, on the approval of the economic plan for averting the fiscal cliff. According to Steinitz, this plan provides stability and prevents the exacerbation of the economic crisis in the US. It has led to a sigh of relief around the world and in Israel in particular, in light of the profound economic partnership between us and the US.

Secretary Geithner and Minister Steinmetz will meet in Washington early next week. In addition to the meeting with Geithner, Minister Steinmetz and Dr. Michael Sarel, Chief Economist at the Ministry of Finance, will hold meeting with Geithner's deputy Neal Wolin and with other staffers at the US Department of the Treasury and at the White House National Economic Council.
