In response to a request from Government of Seychelles for supply of essential medicines for the people of Seychelles, Government of India has supplied 108 different medicines in 4 lots during 2016. The majority of medicines are for combating common infections, while others are to treat diabetes, hypertension, heart disease, etc.

The medicines worth Rupees 3 Crore (Gross weight of 42,000 kgs.) were procured by Ministry of External Affairs through Directorate General of Armed Forces Medical Supplies. This gift of medicines is part of US$ 8.76 million earmarked for supply of medical equipment and medicines to Seychelles.

The Government of Seychelles has expressed its gratitude to Government of India for helping it in the fight against disease and protecting the weaker sections of society.
