Support for school choice will be represented by hundreds of students, parents, and teachers from a wide variety of school at a celebratory rally timed to coincide with National School Choice Week.

The rally, planned for January 23 beginning with a breakfast in the basement vault at 8:00 a.m., will feature hundreds of parents, students, teachers, and community leaders rallying in support of school choice. Several hundred people are expected to attend this event at the Minnesota State Capitol (House Floor and Vault Room).

The goal of the event is to spotlight educational options for Minnesota students and tell student success stories. The celebration is timed to coincide with National School Choice Week (January 21-27, 2018), which will feature more than 32,000 events across the country.

"Every Minnesota student should have access to a high-quality education, regardless of their ZIP code or their family's financial situation," said Chas Anderson, executive director of Opportunity for All Kids. "We are proud to partner with National School Choice Week to highlight the great schools and teachers serving Minnesota's students and to advocate for even more educational freedom in our state."

Event partners include Opportunity for All Kids, the Minnesota Catholic Conference, the Lutheran Church-Missouri Synod and the Minnesota Independent School Forum.

Held every January, National School Choice Week is an independent public awareness effort designed to shine a positive spotlight on effective education options for every child. Through more than 32,000 independently planned events across the country, National School Choice Week raises public awareness of all types of educational choices available to children. These options include traditional public schools, public charter schools, public magnet schools, online learning, private schools, and homeschooling.
