Earnings season. Deere, AAC Technologies, Compagnie Financière Richemont, Porsche, The Sage Group, easyJet, Viel and Parrot are among companies reporting earnings today.

Avantor raises $2.9bn in IPO. Avantor, a chemical maker for the life-sciences industry, raised $2.9 billion in the world’s second-biggest initial public offering of the year, selling 207 million shares at $14 each, Bloomberg reports. The IPO values the company at about $7.4 billion.

Two is better. This morning, Nissan officially welcomed Thierry Bolloré (Renault's CEO) to its Board of Directors, of which Hiroto Saikawa remains Chairman and which already includes the brand's diamond brand president, Jean-Dominique Senard. The announcement was made official today.

Deliverazon.com. Amazon.com will participate in the $575 million fundraising campaign prepared by Deliveroo, confirmed the group, after rumors to that effect. Bad news for European distribution.

Counterintuitive. Microsoft and Sony are joining forces in dematerialized games and artificial intelligence. This partnership between two competitors in the video game industry may come as a surprise, but the Japanese company need the American group's cloud capabilities. Collaboration is also planned in the development of new image sensors.

Various fortunes. In semiconductors, Nvidia and Applied Materials are reassuring with their quarterly results. On the other hand, the accounts of Pinterest and Baidu led to a sharp decline in both securities.

Almost stable. New vehicle registrations in Europe limited their decline to -0.4% in April, ACEA said, the smallest decline in the last eight months, all of which were bearish. The United Kingdom (-0.4%) weighed on performance, while Spain, Italy and France rose slightly and Germany fell by -1.1%. In 2019, registrations were down -2.6% over the first four months of the year compared to the same period in 2018.

On the right track. Boeing has completed the software update for the B73 7MAX, which still has several steps to go before the single-aisle aircraft can be returned to service. The manufacturer will now contact the US Civil Aviation Agency (FAA), the only agency able to authorize the resumption of flights, which will take several more weeks.

In other news. According to Bloomberg, the Canadian mining group Iamgold is for sale and HP Enterprise is negotiating the acquisition of supercomputer manufacturer Cray. The "Chinese Starbucks", Luckin, raises $561 million by going public on Wall Street. British Steel assures that its financing is sufficient to continue its activity. Tesla's autopilot was again involved in a fatal accident. Vale warns the Brazilian authorities of a weakness on one of its dams, after the failure of another dam caused hundreds of deaths a few months ago.
